When we first moved in, I wasn't sure what to do with this big expanse of open wall in our dining room. Now that we've gotten settled in a little bit more, it became clear that I needed more baby-safe display space. So I decided to construct some awesome rustic, yet modern open shelving for this wall. I was inspired by some cool stainless steel modern brackets I found at Ikea. But I decided to DIY the shelves to give them a rustic look. The modern brackets with more rustic shelves gives the … [Read more...]

Three Pretty Good Things: My Monday
Since we just got back into town late last night, today is my Monday and here are three pretty good things about it. 1. A trip to Whole Foods with my darling girl. A lovely gentleman singing silly songs while waiting in front of me to get coffee. Some verses included lyrics about Jaye. Then the coffee being out, so I got an Americano on the house. Yummy treat. 2. Music class with Jaye. She's getting more into it. As the teacher puts away each basket of instruments and gets out the next … [Read more...]
DFW in Review: Klyde Warren Park
Last week, Jaye and I headed downtown with some other baby friends to check out the new Klyde Warren Park. It's a crazy new park that was actually built over the Woodall Rogers freeway in downtown Dallas. We had a blast. There are lots of cool different areas and activities. Lots of green space. But, first things … [Read more...]

First things first, due to my inability to write all my commitments down on the calendar, I'd signed up to run the Color in Motion 5K, which started at 9 am in Fair Park. But then there was also the YHL book signing at West Elm at 11am. What to … [Read more...]
My Heart Walking Around Outside My Body
At the beginning of September, Jaye started attending a Mother's Day Out once a week at the church across the street from us. Here she is on her first day. She had a little bit of a hard time at first. She would cry when I would first drop her off, but I would just smile and tell her to have a great day and I'd be back soon. Then I'd wait around a little and sneak a peek at her through the window. Usually she'd have calmed down and the teacher would be distracting her by reading her a book. … [Read more...]
