Jaye is still young enough that I get to choose her Halloween costume. This is probably the last year that will happen, so I knew I had to choose well. But I also wanted to choose something she would like (Phil was voting for her to be a grunt from Halo) and recognize. So I decided to make a Maisy Mouse costume. Maisy is a children's book character and one of Jaye's favorites. Here's how I created a DIY Maisy Mouse costume. When you google "Maisy Mouse" it turns out that Maisy doesn't … [Read more...]

Slowing Down
Wednesday night, Jaye and I went for a walk. It took about 20 minutes, just to make it down to the end of our block. And that was perfect. But instead, I'm just going to cut straight to the chase: I made these Cornbread Chili Cups for lunch after church on Sunday, and they were scrumptious. Growing up, we always went out to eat as a family for lunch on Sundays in my family. Phil and I haven't continued that tradition in our family. We prefer to eat out as a family on Friday nights (usually at our … [Read more...]
Modern Playful Bathroom Mood Board
We are planning a bathroom remodel. A big one. We (and by we, I mean the contractor I hired) are going to take our ugly pink bathroom with the sagging floor totally down to the studs and build it up right. I created a modern playful bathroom mood board to help envision the new room. The hallway bathroom is both the kids bathroom and the guest bathroom. So I wanted it to be fun and playful (and durable) for the kids, but also calm and relaxing for any guests using it. And just a … [Read more...]
